American preconceptions and Chinese people

Women’s conditions have improved as Chinese world moves along the course of modernization, albeit in an ambivalent way. We wanted to compare how Chinese females who are family- and work-oriented responded to examinations based on the conventionally good stereotype of virtue. We carried out two investigations to do this. Respondents in experiment 1 answered a questionnaire about their emphasis on work and community. Therefore, they were randomly assigned to either a control state, an individual positive stereotype evaluation conditions, or the group negative stereotype assessment condition. Next, after reading a scene, participants were asked to assess emaciated sexual targets.
